Wait List, Reservations, & Purchasing

Pricing of breeding stock is determined by lineage, conformation, production accolades and show wins of parents and grandparents, and potential. Our registered kids start at $600 and go up depending on pedigree and accolades. Visual assessment of a kid once it is born may result in a price alteration, however, a reservation and deposit will guarantee that the buyer will not pay more than the original advertised price.

Pet wethers are $175 each or $300/pair.

We will have several does in milk available after kidding in 2025. If you are interested in a milking doe, please let us know.

STAR & CHAMPION CREDITS

Any Haymaker Farm doe or buck purchased between 1/1/21 - 12/31/24 that earns an AR milk star or permanent champion status will receive a $150 credit towards a future goat.

Wait List & Reservations

  • Haymaker Farm maintains both a Wait List (no deposit required) and a Reservation List (deposit required.)

  • If you think you might be interested in one of our goats at some point, but aren’t ready to commit, please join our Wait List. If you are certain that you want a kid (from a specific breeding or not) please make a Reservation and deposit. When kids are born, we will notify those with reservations. (Please make sure that your contact information is accurate and up to date!) After Reservation List is fulfilled we will move on to the Wait List. If you are on the Wait List and decide to purchase a kid, you will have 24 hours to to place a deposit to secure your kid. If we do not hear from you we will move on to the next name on the list. Available reservations for an unborn (breeding stock) kid may be secured with a $100 deposit, and for wethers with a $50 deposit. Adults, aged one year and older require a 50% deposit to hold. A goat will not be held, or considered to be reserved, until a deposit has been received.

  • Haymaker Farm reserves the right to make changes in the breeding lineup. We reserve the right to retain any goat for any reason, at any time. If we elect to retain a kid from a breeding with a deposit, your deposit will be immediately refunded, carried over to the next season, or transferred to another breeding (if available), whichever you prefer. Because we care deeply about the welfare of our animals, we also reserve the right to terminate any sale we are not comfortable with at any time, for any reason, with full refund deposit.

  • Priority may be given to homes that show and/or actively participate in DHIR/LA performance programs.

  • Advertised prices are subject to change upon evaluation of the dam’s udder and the kids themselves. Any changes will be communicated immediately to potential buyers. If you have a pre-paid reservation, your price will not change.

  • We reserve the right to wether a buckling if we do not see him fit to be a herdsire, regardless of if there is a reservation. In that case, your deposit will be refunded.

Deposits

  • Once a kid is chosen, a non-refundable deposit equal to 50% of the sales price must be received within 24 hours to hold the kid until it is ready to leave.

  • If you place a deposit for a specific breeding and we are unable to fulfill the reservation (for example if you reserve a buck and none are born), you will receive a full refund of your deposit, or you may use it as credit towards another goat or roll it over to the next kidding season.

  • Placing a deposit on a goat is a commitment to purchase. Deposits are non-refundable unless an animal is found to have a physical abnormality, a significant illness, dies, or suffers a permanent injury prior to leaving our property. If you simply change your mind and elect not to proceed with your purchase, your deposit will be forfeited to cover the time and cost of locating a new buyer. (In some instances we may allow the deposit to be transferred to another breeding or carried over to the next season.)

  • Deposits may be paid with cash, check, or using Paypal/Venmo. If Paypal or Venmo is used and a transaction fee is incurred, the buyer is responsible for that fee in addition to the deposit amount.

Health

  • Please note: we will not sell any goat to a home that does not have other goats. Goats need company, preferably at least one other goat of the same age and size. We prefer to sell kids in pairs, since their transition will be the least stressful this way.

  • Haymaker Farm tests annually for CAE/CL and Johnes. We also occasionally test for Brucellosis and TB. Results are posted to the website.

  • Registered goats will be free of disqualifying faults at the time of pick up. Since we cannot control the goats’ environment once they leave our farm, we cannot offer guarantees as to the future health, height, or quality of the animals. We do not guarantee mature height. Should a disqualifying fault be discovered, please let us know so that we can replace or refund.

  • All kids will receive their first dose of CD&T toxoid once old enough (unless leaving earlier on bottle), hoof trim and disbudding prior to leaving the farm. If you prefer horned or un-vaccinated kids, please let us know immediately. (Horned kids must be paid for in full while under one week old.) We monitor closely for coccidiosis and other parasites and treat appropriately as needed.

  • The health history of any goat purchased from Haymaker Farm will be provided to the new owner.

  • We encourage buyers to consider that travel and management change is stressful to goats. Illness and in rare cases death can occur if the animal is not properly handled or treated. New owners are encouraged to make feed transitions slowly, to provide ProBios probiotics on moving day, and to limit stress as much as possible. Haymaker Farm will supply buyer with a portion of feed(s) that the goat has been used to, to allow for a gradual switch to the new feed.

  • If you prefer to have your goat vet checked, or you need a CVI health certificate, Haymaker Farm can make arrangements with our vet, Annabessacook Large Animal Clinic. Buyer is responsible for all fees and funds must be received prior to vet being called out. Be aware that CVIs are more expensive in Maine than in other parts of the country.

Registration

  • All breeding stock will be tattooed and microchipped. Depending on the current ADGA website situation, online transfers may be done; if not the appropriate registration paperwork will be provided. Transfer/registration fee is the buyer’s responsibility.

  • Should a doe be sold as a pet/non-breeding animal, no registration papers will be released or given to the buyer at any time. Wethers will not normally be registered unless the buyer requests it for 4H showing or any other purpose.

Final Sale & Pick-up

  • All animals MUST be paid for in full before leaving the farm. If paying by PayPal or check, your payment must clear before your goat(s) leaves the farm.

  • Pickup/travel plans should be considered prior to your kid being ready to leave. Arrangements MUST be made within 3 days of official notification that your reserved kid(s) is ready to go.

  • If your goat is being transported and requires a Veterinary Exam and Certificate, the new owner will be responsible for paying Haymaker Farm an additional fee per goat to cover the fees associated with this exam, testing, and certificate. Be aware that CVIs are more expensive in Maine than in other parts of the country.

  • Reserved goats must be picked up within 7 days of the agreed upon sale date. If a goat cannot be transported within 7 days, boarding may be arranged, at our discretion, at $3 per day (to be paid by buyer before goat leaves the farm.) Failure to pick up or arrange transport within 14 days from sale date may result in cancellation of the sale, forfeit of your deposit, and the goat may be retained or be listed for sale.

  • At the time of pick up, please have an appropriate crate/trailer to transport your goats in. Goats do not tolerate wind: using a wire crate in the bed of a pick up truck is not appropriate. If this is the only crate you have, wrap the top and 3 sides with a heavy tarp to prevent wind and possibly creating a very stressed goat. A medium dog crate is large enough to house one adult goat or 2 kids under 6 months.

*****If at any time you are considering re-homing an animal purchased from us, we ask that you please contact us first to give us the opportunity to buy the animal back.

Please see our SALES AGREEMENT for specifics. This agreement will be signed by all parties at time of sale.
